For years, the beer market has been rooted in the traditional, but with the craft beer revolution the game is changing rapidly. Portobello Brewing Co is one of the upstarts breaking into the established set and they asked us to help continue their momentum.

Defining the brewery
As well as getting to know the PB team, we spent time getting acquainted with Portobello Road, and researching the vibrant culture and unique history of the surrounding area.

Capturing the PB message
Craft beer branding can at times be a little too hipster, so we needed something that captured PB’s refreshing approach – beer for drinking, not overthinking.

Amplifying the branding
Influenced by the mix of diverse cultures and music that the Portobello area has produced, we created a bold, handmade aesthetic that uses a blend of hand-drawn type, collage and pastel patterns to form something truely PB.

Making the brand sell
The key sales tools for PB are their packaging and point of sale collateral, so we helped roll their bold new branding out across bottles, cans, pump clips and bar mats.

To continue the Portobello journey we also created a website for the brewery packed with Portobello Road information and produced collateral for their signature stall at the Nottinghill Carnival.

The results

Portobello continue to grow their network of customers outside of the capital, and have signed a deal to put a million cans into Tesco stores around the country.
